Professor Dr. Nico Carpentier
Nico Carpentier is Associate Professor at the Communication Studies Department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB – Free University of Brussels) and Lecturer at Charles University in Prague. He is a research fellow at Loughborough University and the Cyprus University of Technology. He is also an executive board member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) and he was vice-president of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) from 2008 to 2012. His theoretical focus is on discourse theory, his research interests are situated in the relationship between media, journalism, politics and culture, especially towards social domains as war & conflict, ideology, participation and democracy.

His specialty is modern Europe and he has taught popular courses on the Holocaust, modern political ideology, Russia, and history through film and literature. Dr. Cox hails from Raleigh, NC and did his undergraduate work in political science and German area studies at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. After studying abroad in Munich, Szeged (Hungary), Vienna (the greatest city on earth), and Ljubljana, he then spent 13 pleasant years teaching at Wheeling Jesuit University near Pittsburgh. He venerates espresso, likes cats and bicycles, and believes that the study of foreign languages helps you grow another brain. Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, The Department for Journalism and Public Relations, at The State University “Goce Delchev”, in Shtip, The Republic of Macedonia. Her areas of research interest include: Communication Management, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Media and Journalism. Has worked for five years at The Ministry of Education and Science of Republic of Macedonia, as an adviser for the European Community Programs, a spokesperson and a public relations adviser. Since 2010 has worked as an assistant professor of journalism, communication and public relations. Currently works as a Full-time Professor at The Institute for Macedonian Literature (Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje). Her specific areas of research interest include: Cultural Studies, Macedonian and Comparative Literature, Theory of Literature, Media and Gender Studies. Her teaching focus at the Graduate Program in Cultural Studies is centered on the following subjects (or courses): Introduction to Cultural Studies, Imagology, Gender and Culture, Globalization and Culture, and Academic Writing. She also teaches Macedonian Language, and The Basics of Proof-Reading and Writing at the State University of Tetovo. Her publications include: An Open Circle (The Poetics of the Novels of Tashko Georgievski, 1997), A Mirror of the Discourse (2000), The Fantastic and the Macedonian Novel (2001), Allegory, the Grotesque and the Macedonian Novel (2002), Literature and Transition (2008). Textbooks: Reformed High School Education: Macedonian Language and Literature for the 4th Year Student (co-author), (2004), Comparative Literature (for the 4th Year of the Reformed High School Education as an Elective Subject) (co-author), Skopje: (2004). François Heinderyckx is professor at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) where he teaches media sociology and political communication. His research interests include journalism and news media, political communication, audience studies and media literacy. He is the former director of the department of information and communication sciences at ULB. He is among the editors of the Routledge Studies in European Communication Research and Education and a member of the editorial board of numerous journals. He is a member of the High Council for Media Literacy, government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and a member of the Brussels Platform for Journalism. He is a Chang-Jiang Scholar Professor at Communication University of China (2013-2016).
François Heinderyckx was among founding members of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) in 2005 and was the president of the association from its creation until 2012. He is the 2013-2014 President of the International Communication Association (ICA).

Jelena Jurišić was born in Split in 1972. She received her PhD in Philology, specialising in Journalism, from the Moscow State University. Since autumn 1998 she teaches at the Department of Journalism (now Department of Communication Sciences) at the Center for Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb first as an external faculty member, later running courses full time. Her courses range from jouralism, print media, history of communication studies, media theories, media convergence, social media to geopolitics.
She started her journalistic career in 1993 as a foreign correspondent of Croatian daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija in Moscow. Having moved to Zagreb, she started writing for several newspapers and magazines. As one of the most qualified specialists on foreign affairs, particularly in Russia and the region of former Soviet Union, she still works as a part-time commentator for various radio and TV programmes.
She is a member of the Management Committee of COST Action ISO906 Transforming Audiences, Transforming Societies as well as of European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA). Her current research interests include contemporary journalism, covert advertising and the use of social media in journalism.

Geoffroy Patriarche is a full-time professor at Saint-Louis University, Brussels, where he teaches communication theory and social-history of the media. Geoffroy Patriarche has been chair (2006-2010) and vice chair (2010-2012) of the Audience and Reception Studies section of ECREA. He also serves as chair of the COST Action IS0906 Transforming Audiences, Transforming Societies (2010-2014). Recently he as co-edited The Social Use of Media: Cultural and Social Scientific Perspectives on Audience Research (Intellect, 2012) and Audience Research Methodologies: Between Innovation and Consolidation (Routledge, 2013). His current research interests include audience theory, (mobile) media uses in everyday life and mediated citizen participation.

Full Professor at the Institute for Macedonian Literature, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Macedonia. He teaches Cultural Studies: Topics and Methods, Post-Colonial Theory, as well as Theatre and Its audience. Holds two PhD degrees in theory of the theatre, the first obtained at the Russian Academy of Theatrical Arts RATI-GITIS in Moscow (1999), and the second at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (2003). His fields of research interest include: Cultural Studies, Postcolonial Theory, Identity, Cultural Memory, Culture and Politics, as well as Theatrical Theory. Is the head researcher of “The Macedonian Literature Data Base”; Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Spektar (2010-2012); Member of the Macedonian Writers’ Association. Has published the following monographs: (1993) From an Original Idea to the Creation of a State (co-authored with Jovan Pavlovski); (1996) Macedonia: Yesterday and Today (co-authored with Jovan Pavlovski); (1998) Pure Play: Biomechanics in the Theatre System of V. E. Meyerhold; (2005) Theatre and Myth. Participates in the preparation of “MI-AN Encyclopedia” (MI-AN, 2006). Has participated in the following projects: “Macedonian Theater in the Context of the Balkan Theater Sphere” (Faculty of Dramatic Arts, 2003-06). Honored with The Mito Hadzi Vasilev-Jasmin State Award for the book “Macedonia Yesterday and Today“ (co-authored with Jovan Pavlovski)(1997) and with the collective award Goce Delchev for the publication Macedonian Theater in the Context of the Balkan Theater Sphere (2003).

Kim Christian Schrøder is Professor of Communication at the Department of Communication, Business and Information Technologies at Roskilde University, Denmark. His co-authored and co-edited books in English include Museum communication and social media: The connected museum (2013), Digital Content Creation (2010), Researching audiences (2003), Media cultures (1992), and The Language of Advertising (1985). His interests comprise the theoretical, methodological and analytical aspects of audience uses and experiences of media, with particular reference to the challenges of methodological pluralism. His recent work explores different methods for mapping news consumption.

Professor Guy Starkey of the University of Sunderland, UK, is a former practitioner in radio and magazine journalism who still broadcasts daily on two internet radio stations. He is currently Sections Representative on the Executive Board of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) and Chair of the ECREA Radio Research Section. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Radio Studies Network within MeCCSA and of the Comite Scientifique of the Groupe de Recherches et d’Etudes sur la Radio (GRER).
