Post-conference Event: Visit to Ohrid

OHRID – A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE
The Center for Culture and Cultural Studies (CCCS) is organizing a sight-seeing trip to the city of Ohrid. In 1980, the city and the surrounding lake were recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In Ohrid, civilized life has existed for more than 3000 years. According legends, the city was founded by Kadmos 2400 years ago. Ostensibly, Ohrid stands as a true archeological treasure. For example, there are many archeological sites from the Neolithic period in this region. The oldest recorded mention of the city as Lihnydos (the ancient name for Ohrid) stands in connection with Philip II of Macedonia (353 BC), while first Slavic settlements are established in the 6th century AD, when the city is given its present name, i.e., Ohrid.

TRANSFERS
The organizers offer the following three-day arrangement:

• Transfer from Skopje to Ohrid and from Ohrid to Skopje, no longer than 3 hours (one way), with a break on “Strazha” (the National Park Mavrovo) for about 30 minutes;
• Local transfer in Ohrid from the hotel to the town, and to the places of the main activities;
• Transfer to the monastery complex “St. Naum”, and back to hotels in Ohrid.

The organizers will provide accommodation for the interested participants based on 2 half boards in Ohrid at the following hotels:

THE ORGANIZATION OF THE EVENTS
The following visits will be organized:

• A site-seeing tour of the Old Town, including the main cultural sites
• One-day excursion to the monastery complex “St. Naum” (lunch will be provided)

• Transfer Skopje-Ohrid-Skopje (included in price);
• 2 overnights and 2 half-boards (included in price);
• An organized sight-seeing tour of the Old Town, with a professional English and Russian speaking guide (included in price);
• An organized excursion to the monastery complex “St. Naum”, with lunch and a transfer, with sight-seeing of the monastery, of the Springs, with a possibility to swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake Ohrid (sight seeing, lunch and transfer included in price)
